European Marine Biological Resource Centre - Belgium

The European Marine Biological Research Centre is a European Research Infrastructure Consortium of international relevance.

By organising access to state-of-the-art facilities at the marine biological stations and institutes across EU and EU-Associate countries, EMBRC provides the necessary and relevant services, facilities and technology platforms to study marine organisms and ecosystems for both academia and industry.

EMBRC - Belgium has 5 operators: 4 Flemish (UGent, VLIZ, KULeuven and UHasselt) and 1 federal (RBINS). All partners aim at delivering top-level services and want to coordinate and expand the service and training component for EMBRC. By partaking in the EMBRC consortium, Belgium is on the front stage of the Blue Growth scenario with fundamental and applied research activities in health and medicine, sustainable aquaculture, seafood, marine biotechnology, ecosystem approach and marine management.
