Nominees for Blue Innovation Awards 2022 - vote for your favourite UGent project UNITED

All candidates had to explain their project, service, product and collaboration through a presentation on 13th  or 14th of October. All entries were objectively assessed by a jury based on their innovative character, link with the blue economy, market potential, international ambitions and link with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals.

The expert jury then designated two potential contenders for each of the four categories:

  1. Blue Innovation Wave (for SMEs):
    • CPS Monitoring (Marlinks)
    • Moray Base (MULTI.Engineering)
  1. Corporate Blue Innovation Wave (for large companies):
    • Drilled XL monopile foundations for offshore wind farms (DEME)
    • Hydrocat 48 (CMB.Tech)
  1. Blue Innovation Swell (for collaborative initiatives):
    • Belgian pilot within UNITED (Ghent University, Jan De Nul Group, Brevisco, Colruyt Group, Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences and Parkwind)
    • Design of a MArine and River Cleaner (MARC) (IMDC, MULTI.engineering, Fraunhofer, Schottel Hydro, Soliton)
  1. Blue Innovation Captain (for government initiatives):
    • Wastewater treatment with willows: a nature-based solution (Aquaduin)
    • ASHIP - Autonomous Ship Innovation Platform (Flanders Hydraulics)

The selected entries per category will be presented at the Port Authority Building during the Blue Innovation Party in Antwerp on Thursday 15th of December 2022. The winners will then be announced.
