Joris Degroote (Ghent University)

Equipped with a PhD in engineering, Joris Degroote is currently a fulltime professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University. Together with his team, he focusses on researching numerical simulation of fluid-structure interaction (FSI) using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and computational solid mechanics (CSM), with emphasis on the fluid mechanics. In addition, Joris and his team develop quasi-Newton algorithms for partitioned simulation of FSI, which could be applied in various fields, amongst others the marine and maritime sector.
